Case Study  —  Euphoria Music Festival

EUPHORIA MUSIC FESTIVAL:

SCALING AN AUSTIN STAPLE

Austin, TX  ·  Carson Creek Ranch

ROLE

Lead Creative Systems Designer

TIMELINE

3 Years 2014–2016

TOOLS

Cinema 4D, Illustrator, Photoshop, Industrial Design

SCOPE

Brand, Wayfinding, Stage Design, Logistics

THE TL;DR

TRANSFORMED A GRASSROOTS MUSIC FESTIVAL INTO A SCALABLE, MASS-GATHERING EVENT THROUGH A BRAND OVERHAUL, AN INDUSTRIAL WAYFINDING SYSTEM, AND CUSTOM 3D STAGE DESIGN.

SECTION 02 — THE PROBLEM

THE GROWING PAINS

Euphoria was rapidly expanding, but the operations were still DIY. Basic paper credentials were a security risk, wayfinding was not ADA compliant, and the secondary stage struggled to attract major artists or crowd density. They needed a system that could scale.

SECTION 03 — THE HUSTLE

DESIGNING FOR CHAOS

01

Systems,

Not Just Signs:

Designed a color-coded, weather-proof wayfinding system prioritizing crowd flow and legal egress.

02

Crisis Management:

Acted as the on-site fixer. (e.g., Hand-laminating and delivering emergency credentials for headliner Pretty Lights 30 minutes before set time).

03

Brand Evolution:

Managed the shift from a generic logo to a heritage-inspired visual identity used across all touchpoints.

SECTION 04 — THE CENTERPIECE

THE COYOTE STAGE

CUSTOM 3D STAGE DESIGN / CINEMA 4D → FABRICATION

To solve the Second Stage engagement problem, I designed a custom, Native American heritage-inspired 3D stage in Cinema 4D. Featuring LED panel eyes and a laser "third eye," it became a festival landmark and successfully distributed crowd density.

SECTION 05 — RESULTS & REFLECTION

WHAT IT BUILT

THE IMPACT

→ Elevated production value that attracted top-tier talent and sponsors.

→ Streamlined security and measurably improved patron safety.

→ Established a scalable visual identity used for future festival years.

→ Coyote Stage became a signature landmark and crowd-flow solution.

“My favorite moment

is always standing at the

back of the festival, radio off,

watching the lights hit the crowd.

Seeing a system you built keep

thousands of people safe and

entertained is why I do this work.”

— THE TAKEAWAY

GOT A FESTIVAL THAT

NEEDS SCALING?

Let's build systems that hold up when the lights come on.
